I built Songbook for songwriters to consolidate a lyric journal, chord looper and multi-track recorder into one place. I designed the product end to end and directed its AI-assisted development, from the data model to the interface.
As a songwriter myself, I noticed that the process was scattered. Ideas would come to me and I would scramble to store them in voice memos, my notes app, or even in my camera roll. Since those apps all serve other purposes, I found myself losing track of old verses I had written and composed. There was no intuitive hub for me to digitize my ideas, and I couldn't store melodies in my paper journal without strong knowledge of musical notation.
Replace the scattered notes-and-voice-memo workflow with a single tool a song could live on from the first line to a finished demo.
I built a web app where the lyric journal, chord looper, and multi-track recorder work side by side, with annotations and inline chords attached directly to the lyrics.
Next, I want to make Songbook shareable. Today it combines a GarageBand-style recorder, a notes app, and voice memos. Adding social features would turn it into a SoundCloud for songwriters, where anyone, regardless of music level, can create a song on their own and share it with the world.
